Fees
Our fees are based on the time spent on your matter, at your solicitor’s hourly rate. Reception can tell you the current rates when you contact us.
Your first appointment
Your first appointment usually takes about an hour and is charged at your solicitor’s hourly rate.
The intake forms you complete beforehand give us the background to your matter and help keep the appointment to that time.
For more about the appointment and how to prepare, see What to expect.
How we charge
We charge by time and do not offer fixed fees. We provide a written costs agreement before work begins.
While we’re acting for you, we send monthly itemised invoices showing the work you’ve been charged for. You can ask at any time about outstanding fees and work that has not yet been billed. Written costs reports are also available on request, at no charge.

Third-party finance
We understand that when you’re navigating a separation or relationship property matter, the financial strain can sometimes stand in the way of getting the legal support you need. That’s why we’ve partnered with JustFund - Australia’s only dedicated provider of flexible funding solutions for family law legal fees.
Through this partnership, eligible clients can access a flexible line of credit to cover legal fees and expenses related to separation or relationship property proceedings. You don’t have to repay the loan until you reach a settlement, which we hope reduces the stress associated with paying costs upfront.
Funding is subject to JustFund’s approval. Interest and fees apply. See JustFund’s funding information for current details.
Legal aid
We don’t currently have capacity to take on new legally aided matters.
For information about applying for legal aid, contact Tasmania Legal Aid. You can also contact Hobart Community Legal Service or Women’s Legal Service Tasmania to ask about free legal advice and information.
When you’re ready, we’re here.
You don’t need to have decided what you want to do before contacting us. Call, email or request a first appointment. We’ll first check whether we can act for you, then get back to you to arrange an appointment.
