Ros Courtney

Ros Courtney was born and raised in Tasmania. Apart from a time holidaying overseas she has lived and worked in Tasmania all her life.In addition to being married with a young family, Ros greatly enjoys the relaxed lifestyle available in Tasmania, especially Tasmania’s great scenery and beaches and spending time with family and friends.

After completing a combined Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of Tasmania in 1990, Ros was admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1992. She has worked exclusively within the area of family law since 1996.

Ros’ specialisation in family law includes dealing with property and children’s issues, divorce applications, child support, maintenance and relationships law, together with child protection and child welfare issues.

Over the years Ros has served on the panel of independent children’s lawyers within the Family Court, Federal Magistrates Court and Child Welfare jurisdiction. Ros is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
